![]() ![]() – Former fire chief John Wright also appeared during public participation, raising concerns about the village being covered while the fire department responds to mutual aid calls, certifications of members of the department and fire hydrant testing he said was long overdue, stating it last happened approximately 20 years ago. Pernik was also advised by council and village solicitor Ernie Wilson that while the center can ask unvaccinated individuals to wear a mask, denying them entry is not in the scope of the village’s authority. Sohovich also addressed that topic during his participation, telling council he knows a lot of the village’s employees work part time or on a volunteer basis and offered his help and expertise with any future grants. ![]() He said since last Thursday, he has submitted a letter requesting some of the portion of the county recreation funding that is left. – The village not submitting a request for recreation funds from the Jefferson County Commissioners, who granted funds at their meeting last Thursday, was also addressed by Smith, who told council he did not see and to his knowledge did not receive the letter from the commissioners asking for the requests. He also noted that road resurfacing work as part of the storm sewer separation project, which was not a part of the original plans, got done for around $20,000 more than the project budget after he was able to eliminate some other expenses and utilize the contingency fund for the project.ĭuring public participation, village resident Marty Sohovich commended Smith and council for taking on the project and making the needed improvements to the village. – During his report, Smith told council the village is still waiting for guidelines on how the village’s allotment from the American Rescue Plan can be used. She was told by Smith to get prices from the company that installed other new cameras in the park. Lloyd also requested three security cameras more than 10 years old be replaced. Smith suggested a recreation meeting be held to address the situation, rather than waiting for the next council meeting which is not until July 20.
